An MBA is becoming a more and more important for the top job nowadays. The job market is very competitive and every little helps. If you are considering progressing to MBA study but you're tied up with a full time job and/or a family to support, then you don't necessarily need to make the burden heavier. It is possible to study an MBA with no entrance exam or thesis required.
Many MBA courses are extremely demanding and require dedication, focus and time to successfully complete. Without the hassle of taking the GMAT entrance examination it will lower your stress levels if anything else!
However, studying with a good quality institution can work wonders for faster career progression. So, to enroll into an MBA or Executive MBA program what criterion should I be using when choosing where to study?
Here are a few starters:
1) Choose a bricks & mortar institution
2) Make sure it has at least some name recognition in the field of study or area of business you excel in
3) No entrance exam would be good
4) No Thesis would of course also be good if you already have a busy life to lead
5) Are you studying from home, i.e. distance learning (or from the office?!) If so then the program must be online except for separate textbooks
6) However, some residency i.e. 2-4 weeks a year, will provide the essential student/professor interaction
7) Try to locate an institution with some business accreditation if possible
You wouldn't be excused for thinking what is left to actually do in such a course description! But don't forget, we're trying to fit this into a busy lifestyle and keep things lean. And we're still looking for quality.
It's certainly possible to get all of this for within 10-15k per year, which for an MBA is very reasonable. So, what choices do you have? Let's consider 5 to begin with:
1) To begin with, Charleston Southern offers a 30-credit/hour program which is very easy to work with, and the price fits the budget.
2) Second up, the University of North Alabama. If you enroll with the right GPA they will waive the entrance exams, Cheerfully though, if you don't have the GPA they're looking for they will let you in conditionally until you pass 2 or 3 courses with a B. Sound good?
3) wbu.edu. Check it out
4) apu.edu. This is another attractive option which fits the bill.
5) Regis University in Denver, CO meets the criteria. There's no entrance exam, it's bricks and mortar and has a solid reputation. Courses are roughly $500 each which fits within budget. Almost no exams at all, and no thesis to speak of.
